Blue Water Baltimore Case Study
Bluewater Baltimore switched from using tree watering bags over five years ago. In the usual problems of using watering bags were eliminated in the first year - theft, vandalism and the bags being used as rubbish bags. Cost savings were realised in the second year where the Greenwells were in place doing their job, none had be be replaced which is typically the problem with watering bags. The real savings compounded when the Baltimore tree planting crew started to carefully remove the Greenwells after 2-3 years and reuse them on new plantings. Darin Crew from Bluewater Baltimore says his team is now getting three uses out of a Greenwell!

2 Years of Water Saving
Volunteers of Blue Water Baltimore plant trees in the Broadway East neighborhood of Baltimore, BWB reuses their greenwells up to 3 times, we water each summer 6-10 times and then remove after 2 years.

Trees Louisville
Tree Louisville were looking a planting and water retention solution which would suit a steep hillside. Watering bags will only work on level ground whereas Greenwells can be cut into the slop as seen in the following images. Water runoff is solved.
